Northumberland For the Kids
There are a wealth of places to take your children to help wean them away from their electronic screens and get them involved in some real-life outdoor activities for which Northumberland is famous.
Go Ape
Get your kids and your own inner kid off the floor and swinging through the treetops at Go-Ape Matfen, near Morpeth.
Wentworth Swimming and Leisure Centre in Hexham
Hexham's leisure pool is popular and you can also take the kids to craft morning at the Forum Cinema in Hexham where they can do a craft activity then watch a kids film with popcorn and treats, great fun!
Farne Islands Boat Trips
Get the children out to sea and touring these islands which are often buried beneath huge numbers of seals and seabirds!
Broomstick Training
Need something really different to capture your youngsters’ imaginations? Take them up to Hogwarts (Alnwick Castle) to test their mettle learning to fly a broomstick!

The rolling uplands of Northumberland, culminating in the Cheviot are an uncrowded sanctuary for those who like to walk away from the madding crowd. Follow in the footsteps of the Border Reivers in a more peaceful Northumbria than they knew! Dip into sections of Hadrian’s Wall and Pennine Way long distance paths.
Mountain Biking

Northumberland is awash with opportunities for coarse and game fishing! From salmon on the Tyne to winter stalking of one of Kielder Water’s huge Pike, your options are nearly endless!
